Anne Riley is Dene k'e and a member of Fort Nelson First Nation and an Indigiqueer artist and cultural worker. They live and work as a guest on the unceded territories of the xʷməθkʷəy̍əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), and Sel̓íl̓witulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations. Their work explores ways of being and becoming, touch, and Indigeneity. Riley holds a BFA from the University of Texas at Austin and has exhibited across the U.S. and Canada.
In 2020, Riley participated in Drift: Art and Dark Matter, a residency and exhibition that brought together artists and scientists exploring dark matter.
In 2023, Riley co-authored A Conversation Around Dark Matter Ethics with Emelie Chhangur, which won the 2024 Galeries Ontario / Ontario Galleries Art Writing Award.
They are currently writing their MA thesis in Cultural Studies at Queen’s University, focusing on Dene feminist artistic praxis.
